HÀ NỘI — The Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin) has reported that it has met its production and business targets in February, contributing VNĐ1.78 trillion (nearly US$67.96 million) to the State budget during the month and VNĐ4.44 trillion ($169.5 million) in the first two months of the year.
Accordingly, favourable weather conditions in February supported coal and mineral mining operations, while coal-producing units strictly adhered to operational discipline and effectively managed technical indicators in mining and tunnelling.
As a result, run-of-mine coal output reached 2.38 million tonnes, equivalent to 106.4 per cent of the monthly plan, bringing the two-month total to an estimated 6.01 million tonnes. Clean coal production totalled 2.42 million tonnes in February, with the cumulative figure for the first two months also at around 6.01 million tonnes. Coal sales were estimated at 3.24 million tonnes, raising the two-month total to 6.98 million tonnes.
In the minerals segment, alumina production hit 114,000 tonnes, or 105.6 per cent of the plan, with a two-month output of 236,300 tonnes. Alumina sales reached 82,900 tonnes in February and 165,100 tonnes in the first two months. Bauxite ore mining amounted to 690,000 tonnes during the month, bringing the cumulative figure to 1.56 million tonnes.
Copper concentrate production reached 9,200 tonnes, up 113.1 per cent year-on-year, while sales totalled 3,000 tonnes, a rise of 115 per cent. Meanwhile, refined copper output stood at 2,640 tonnes in February, bringing the two-month total to 5,360 tonnes, with cumulative sales reaching 7,200 tonnes.
Meanwhile, power generation in February amounted to 775 million kWh, raising the two-month output to 1.63 billion kWh.
The group’s consolidated revenue in February was estimated at VNĐ11.83 trillion, bringing the total for the first two months to VNĐ25.48 trillion.
Vinacomin said it has closely followed its 2026 production and business plan, implementing comprehensive measures to enhance production capacity, improve operational efficiency, balance cash flows and keep financial ratios within safe limits.
Vinacomin aims to produce 3.4 million tonnes of run-of-mine coal and 3.5 million tonnes of clean coal, while targeting coal sales of 4.53 million tonnes in March. The group expects alumina output to reach 120,000 tonnes with sales of 137,000 tonnes, alongside 11,200 tonnes of copper concentrate and 1,100 tonnes of refined zinc. Consolidated revenue for the month is expected to reach VNĐ15.4 trillion. — VNS
