HÀ NỘI — The General Department of Taxation has said it will organise an online programme on June 17 for household and individual businesses that sell products via livestream, e-commerce platforms and other digital channels to assist them in tax registration, declaration and payment.
The programme starts at 8.30am and will last one day. It will be livestreamed on the Tax department’s official web portal at gdt.gov.vn and its official Facebook page at facebook.com/nganhthuevietnam.
According to the department, in the first five months of 2025, tax authorities collected VNĐ74.4 trillion (US$2.9 billion) from organisations and individuals engaged in e-commerce and other digital economy activities, marking a 55 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2024.
Over 100,000 household and individual businesses completed tax registration, declaration and payment via the online portal dedicated to small business taxpayers, contributing nearly VNĐ1.1 trillion to the State budget in the first five months of the year.
As for tax enforcement in the digital business sector, the tax authority reviewed 164,661 taxpayers. It collected over VNĐ416 billion in arrears from enterprises and an additional VNĐ331 billion from 25,201 individual and household businesses.
Previously, the department held a nationwide virtual conference with tax authorities and household businesses to provide guidance and resolve difficulties related to e-invoices generated from cash registers.
The department's Deputy Director Mai Sơn said the agency understands the challenges, especially in the early stages. He confirmed that the Tax Department is committed to providing timely and practical support, continuously innovating and improving procedures, applying technology and accelerating the digital transformation, with the ultimate goal of serving taxpayers. These efforts aim to create favourable conditions for household businesses to comply with tax laws.
He added that household businesses and taxpayers across the country have cooperated well with tax authorities and fulfilled their tax obligations, helping the department meet revenue targets and contributing significantly to local and national socio-economic development.
Following the recent conference, the department has instructed local tax offices to continue organising dialogue sessions, support activities and Q&A programmes for household businesses.
It also encourages close coordination with e-invoice solution providers to offer on-site assistance, helping businesses gradually familiarise themselves with using e-invoices generated from cash registers.
