HÀ NỘI — VPBank has been a pioneer in embracing technology and AI, choosing to master them early rather than just follow trends, said Bùi Hải Quân, Vice Chairman of VPBank’s Board of Directors.

Quân made the statement at the AI-Semiconductor Conference (AISC 2025), launched in Hà Nội on Wednesday, bringing together over 1,000 leaders and experts from tech giants like Google, NVIDIA, IBM, Meta, Intel and Samsung.

The event, held by the National Innovation Centre (NIC), in collaboration with US-based Aitomatic, Inc is expected to bring cross-border business opportunities, while affirming Việt Nam’s role in the global AI and semiconductor industries.

“The bank’s strategy focuses on creating a seamless digital ecosystem that connects various companies across banking, consumer finance, securities, digital insurance and more. This ecosystem prioritises technology and innovation, with AI playing a central role in enhancing efficiency, security and customer engagement,” he said.

In a world marked by challenges like climate change, geopolitical tensions and resource depletion, Việt Nam’s Resolution 57 (2024) highlights the importance of science, technology and AI. VPBank aligns with this vision, having long focused on mastering technology to unlock new opportunities. The future of banking, according to VPBank, will be AI-driven, proactive, and highly personalised.

VPBank’s commitment to technology is evident through its AI-powered services like VPBank NEO, which boasts over 10 million users and handles 600 million transactions annually. NEO uses AI for fraud detection and customer service, saving 25 per cent of handling time and boosting sales. Cake by VPBank, a digital bank launched in 2021, serves five million customers with only 250 employees, processing 700,000 credit applications monthly. Recognised as one of the world’s top digital banks, Cake exemplifies the efficiency of AI.

The bank’s insurance arm, OPES, also uses AI to optimise risk assessments and review processes, generating over VNĐ2.6 trillion in 2024 with just 110 employees. Similarly, LynkiD, an AI and Blockchain-based reward platform, connects millions of users with brands, earning a Gold Award at the 'Make in Vietnam' Awards.

He added that VPBank’s strategy goes beyond operational efficiency. It aims to position Việt Nam as a global leader in digital technology, connecting local businesses to international opportunities. With continuous investment in AI and semiconductor technologies, VPBank is committed to making Việt Nam a hub for financial tech innovation.

“The future of VPBank lies in a decentralised, yet coordinated AI ecosystem, where data platforms complement each other under a unified strategy. This approach will strengthen relationships with customers, partners, and the community, affirming VPBank’s belief that true leadership comes from mastering technology, not merely applying it,” he said. — VNS
