HÀ NỘI — Vice chairman of the Hà Nội People’s Committee Nguyễn Mạnh Quyền has signed a decision approving a plan to develop traditional craft villages in Hà Nội over the next five years.

From 2025 to 2030, the city aims to restore and preserve at least five traditional crafts and craft villages at risk of disappearing, recognise at least 10 new crafts and 25 craft villages including traditional ones, develop at least three craft villages associated with tourism and form 10 tourism routes for craft village experiences.

By 2050, city authorities hope to restore and preserve at least 10 traditional crafts and craft villages at risk of vanishing and recognise at least 10 new crafts and 20 craft villages, including traditional ones.

In addition, at least 20 craft villages will be developed with a tourism connection, and 20 tourism routes for craft village experiences will be established.

To achieve these objectives, the plan sets out 10 key priorities, focusing on planning for craft villages, enhancing awareness and improving state management capacity and policies for their preservation and development.

It will also improve production conditions and protect the environment in these villages, train local residents, apply technology to digitise villages' assets and develop a support system so they can thrive. — VNS
