Hà Nội promotes consumption of OCOP products

HÀ NỘI — The Hà Nội Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is hosting an event to introduce products under the One Commune One Product Programme (OCOP) from Hà Nội and other northern mountainous provinces on Trịnh Công Sơn walking street, Tây Hồ District, Hà Nội from September 21 to September 25.

Speaking at the opening ceremony on September 21, Tạ Văn Tường, deputy director of the Hà Nội Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that the event aimed to help localities and businesses promote and connect the consumption of OCOP products and regional specialties.

The event features over 100 booths showcasing more than 2,000 OCOP products and regional specialties from Hà Nội and 15 northern mountainous provinces, such as Điện Biên, Lai Châu, Sơn La, Yên Bái, Tuyên Quang, Lào Cai, Hà Giang, Cao Bằng, Bắc Kạn, Lạng Sơn, Bắc Giang, Thái Nguyên, Hòa Bình, Phú Thọ, and Quảng Ninh.

This event is an opportunity to help OCOP product manufacturers and traders in Hà Nội and other provinces and cities nationwide connect trading activities and promote brands.

In addition, the event has also attracted many other provinces and cities, including Hải Dương, Hải Phòng, Hà Nam, Bắc Ninh, Hà Tĩnh, Kiên Giang, Quảng Trị, Gia Lai, Phú Yên, Thanh Hóa, Vĩnh Phúc, Hưng Yên, Đắk Nông, Quảng Ngãi, Bình Định, Quảng Nam, Đắk Lắk, Nghệ An, and Ninh Bình.

They offer typical regional specialties such as Ba Làng fish sauce from Thanh Hoá; seafood specialties from Quảng Ninh; bamboo shoots, vermicelli, shiitake mushrooms, wood ear mushrooms, black jelly, and red peanuts from Cao Bằng; chưng cake, black sticky rice, and specialty cakes from Hà Giang; Tú Lệ sticky rice from Yên Bái; sprouts, cabbage, baby chayote and vegetables from Sơn La; durian from An Giang, longan from Hưng Yên, and handicrafts from Chương Mỹ craft villages in Hà Nội. Notably, the event also features a regional cuisine area.

On this occasion, the Deputy Director of the Hà Nội Department of Agriculture and Rural Development praised producers of OCOP products and regional specialties across the country for their active participation in many recent trade promotion events.

Nguyễn Minh Hằng, owner of a young green sticky rice business in Vòng Village, Mễ Trì Ward, Nam Từ Liêm District, said this is an important event that helps business households from the village introduce green sticky rice products to consumers. It has enabled them to promote consumption and connect with more partners.

This event is also an opportunity for OCOP product producers and traders in Hà Nội and other provinces and cities across the country to foster trading activities, promote their brands, and engage in trade promotion programmes to enhance the productivity and quality of OCOP products.

For the sustainable development of OCOP products, Tạ Văn Tường stated that Hà Nội should focus on promoting brand development; planning, nurturing, and linking raw material areas.

The city aims to advance organic agriculture, the processing industry, and post-harvest preservation technology, and to adopt high technology. Furthermore, it will deeply engage in both domestic and international supply chains.

This event takes place from September 21 to 25, 2023 at Trịnh Công Sơn walking street, Hà Nội.

Hà Nội has certified 2,167 out of 9,852 OCOP products. These include six five-star products, 12 potential five-star products, 1,369 four-star products, and 780 three-star products.

Among the certified products are 1,372 food products, 47 beverage products, 39 herbal products, 660 handicraft products, 47 fabrics and apparel products, and two tourism products.
