Capella Hanoi named Asia's Leading Luxury Boutique Hotel for the second consecutive year by WTA

September 11, 2023 - 15:51
For the second time, Sun Group's Capella Hanoi was named Asia's Leading Luxury Boutique Hotel 2023 at the 30th World Travel Awards (WTA) Asia-Oceania region.

After overcoming strong opponents from China, Malaysia, Thailand, and other countries at the 30th WTA Asia and Oceania awards ceremony on September 6 in Ho Chi Minh City, Capella Hanoi Hotel continues to be honored as "Asia's Leading Luxury Boutique Hotel".

This is the second consecutive year Capella Hanoi has been honored by the WTA

Since its founding in 1993, WTA, regarded as the "Oscar of the world tourism industry" by the Wall Street Journal, has been held annually to recognise the best service providers in the travel and tourism industries. To win awards from WTA, units and enterprises must be rigorously voted on not only by tourists but also by a jury of experts from hundreds of countries around the world. The fact that Capella Hanoi has been honoured for two consecutive years not only reflects the hotel's persistent efforts to bring exceptional services and experiences to customers, but it also establishes excellent quality standards for boutique hotels in the capital Hanoi in particular, and Vietnam in general.

Capella Hanoi was designed by the "witch" architect Bill Bensley

Capella Hanoi is the first hotel that the Capella brand operates in Vietnam, designed by architect Bill Bensley, the mastermind behind Capella Ubud Bali, which won the World's Best Hotel 2020 award. Capella Hanoi is less than a five-minute walk from the Hanoi Opera House and the Old Quarter. Its unique Art Nouveau and Art Deco architecture recreates a luxurious inn for famous artists and composers during the golden age of opera music in the 1920s.

The hotel has a unique design language

From the outside, the hotel's main colours yellow, white, and cream are a combination of the nostalgia of French architecture and the elegant, liberal space of ancient Indochina architecture. Each room at Capella Hanoi possesses a sophisticated design, highlighted by handcrafted sculptures. The hotel's 47 rooms, in particular, are named after world-famous opera actors, singers, and screenwriters such as Sarah Bernhardt, Eleonora Duse, Lina Cavalieri, etc., to recall the "magnanimous" past of this aristocratic art form. Not only in the resting space but also in the bathroom interior of the rooms, there is a distinct design language. Tourists will be able to soak in a gold-plated bathtub, relax in the royal European atmosphere, and take in the view of the city from the window right next to them.

Capella Hanoi is the only hotel in Vietnam to have three Michelin-honoured restaurants

In addition to its unique architecture, one of the things that makes Capella Hanoi especially attractive to tourists is its extremely unique and diverse culinary style. Capella Hanoi was the only hotel in Vietnam with three Michelin-recognised restaurants when the Michelin Guide debuted in Hanoi last June: Hibana by Koki (serving Teppanyaki Japanese cuisine) achieved one Michelin star, while two restaurants Backstage (serving cuisine with Northern Vietnamese style) and Izakaya by Koki (serving Japanese "indulgence in drink" style - Izakaya) were on the Michelin Selected list (restaurant selected and recommended for diners to try by Michelin).

In July, the well-known American news agency CNN listed Capella Hanoi with Hibana by Koki among the top 20 hotels in the world with the best Michelin-starred restaurants. According to experts, hotel restaurants rarely earn Michelin stars, so Hibana by Koki's achievement after only two years in business is truly miraculous.

Also this year, on July 11th, Travel + Leisure, the world's leading luxury travel magazine, announced that Capella Hanoi held the 3rd position in the top 15 hotels in Asian cities voted by readers. The reason given is that tourists are not only attracted by the hotel's deep cultural immersion but also by the special culinary experiences here.

Sun Group continues to be awarded the title of Asia's Leading Tourism Group 2023 by WTA

In addition to the award for Capella Hanoi, at this year's awards ceremony, the World Tourism Organization also named other projects of Sun Group in the category: Asia's Leading Water Park 2023 for Aquatopia Water Park (Phu Quoc); Asia's Leading Theme Park 2023 belongs to Sun World Ba Na Hills (Da Nang). This year, once again the title of Asia's Leading Tourism Group 2023 was awarded to Sun Group, and Sun Hospitality Group continued to be awarded the prestigious award of Asia's Leading Hospitality Development Company 2023.

Being continuously praised and honored by the World Tourism Organization and the world's leading newspapers once again not only affirms Capella Hanoi's insurmountable position and class, but also demonstrates the stature of Asia's leading tourism group Sun Group, in creating projects in Vietnam that are constantly praised by the world.
