HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem) has appointed Bùi Hồng Minh general director. He was previously deputy general director of the company.
Minh, 46, held the position of deputy general director since 2013. Before that, he worked at Bút Sơn and Hà Tiên cement companies. He became director of Bỉm Sơn Cement Company in 2011 prior to joining Vicem.
Minh will replace Trần Việt Thắng, who was just released from the position because he was allegedly involed in several violations in management, production operation and business in the corporation.
Regarding the operation of Vicem, Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc, in March, required the Ministry of Construction to check and clarify information that the corporation had made mistakes in its operations, causing the loss of billions of đồng.
According to Conclusion 402, issued by the construction ministry’s inspectors on October 14, 2016, public receivables of 20 units under Vicem amounted to more than VNĐ4 trillion (US$175.6 million), including debt from taxes on the State budget at VNĐ326 billion and other receivables of more than VNĐ3.12 trillion. — VNS
