Is love truly blind?

The recently-released Netflix series Love Is Blind took blind dating to new levels as contestants agreed to marry each other sight unseen after only a few days of 'dating' through a wall, making for unmissable (if trashy and cringeworthy) reality TV.

Marrying someone without knowing what they look like is a bit extreme for most of us, so luckily a restaurant in HCM City is offering blind dating without the legally binding contract, but sparks and boiled water may still fly.

FA Hotpot restaurant on Cách Mạng Tháng Tám Street in District 10 only takes bookings from single people, who have to book online in advance and give basic personal information like their age, habits and interests so the restaurant can arrange a suitable 'partner'.

The name 'FA' comes from forever alone, a popular way to make jokes online about being single.

Males sit on one side and females on the other side of a table and they can dine and talk without seeing each other because of a curtain. The curtain can be removed if they want to see each other.

The restaurant owner said similar restaurants are available in other countries and they were a hit in Việt Nam too, seeing as it opened in December and has received about 1,700 bookings so far.

If a lucky couple finds each other amid the boiling mushrooms and beef we'll be able to prove once and for all that love, is in fact, blind. — VNS
