HCM CITY — Police are investigating an attack against a female student by three young males who used a weapon to slash her thigh.
The shocked student, 19, of the city’s Gò Vấp District, told the police that the incident took place at around 8pm in Bình Thạnh District, when she was riding her motorbike to visit a friend.
“This group of three approached me. A man grabbed my buttock, while another used a weapon, probably a razor, to cut at my thigh three times, and another cut my right arm,” she said. “I was so terrified I could not cry for help, I just tried to drive as fast as I could to get away from them.”
She then stopped at a dental clinic to get help and first-aid. The clinic’s guard accompanied her to the adjacent drugstore to wash, disinfect and bandage the wounds. She also said the attackers, seeing that she has entered the clinic for help, left.
She then went to the Bình Thạnh District police station to report the assault.
Worried that the attackers might have used HIV-infected razors, the victim’s family took her to Pasteur Institute to get HIV testing and anti-retroviral drugs.
The attack drew widespread attention on social media, with many calling police to find the "perverts" threatening women on the road at night. – VNS
