HÀ NỘI — A high-level delegation from Cuba’s Young Communist League (UJC) is paying a working visit to Việt Nam to learn about the Southeast Asian country’s youth education and training in an ongoing effort to share knowlege on national development and effective defence strategies.

Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly of Việt Nam Tòng Thị Phóng hosted a reception for the delegation, led by UJC First Secretary Susely Morfa González yesterday in Hà Nội.

She noted that the visit of the UJC delegation took place on the occasion of the 128th birthday of late President Hồ Chí Minh – a great leader of the Vietnamese nation and people (May 19, 1890) and the 123th anniversary of the death of Cuban leader Jose Marti (May 19, 1895).

The legislator congratulated Cuba on the success of the recent elections of the People’s Councils at all levels and the National Assembly of People’s Power.

She expressed her belief that the Cuban Party, State and people will continue to be effective in their implementation of revolutionary tasks and the growth of its planned economy.

The NA Vice Chairwoman paid special attention to the historic friendship between Việt Nam and Cuba.

The State-level visit to Cuba by Secretary General of the Communist Party of Việt Nam (CPV) Central Committee Nguyễn Phú Trọng in March re-affirmed the special amity and solidarity between the two countries, which have served as a valuable asset to the two countries’ Parties and people, she said.

For her part, Susely Morfa González expressed the Cuban leaders and people’s admiration for the resilience of the Vietnamese people in the past, particularly during their national liberation, as well as during the current period of rapid national development. — VNS
