Thật, Cường dominate national cycling champs

Nguyễn Thị Thật and Quàng Văn Cường dominated the seventh day of  the National Road Race Cycling Championships which closed on Sunday in Hoà Bình Province.

HÀ NỘI — Nguyễn Thị Thật and Quàng Văn Cường dominated the seventh day of the National Road Race Cycling Championships which closed on Sunday in Hoà Bình Province.

More than 100 athletes took part in the annual tournament's 18 events.

Thật from An Giang grabbed three individual titles in the women's 3km time trial, 30km point trial and 500m speed categories. She was also a member in the team that topped the podium three times.

On the men's side, Cường of Hà Nội also won three golds in the 40km point trial, 4km time trial and 160km mass start events. 

With two silvers in other classes, An Giang secured first place in the team ranking. Đồng Tháp were second, followed by Bình Dương.

The national championship is a warm-up event for team members ahead of the SEA Games in November.

It was also a chance for Hoà Bình to test their facilities and terrain as they will host cycling event of the Việt Nam's 31st SEA Games in 2021. — VNS
