HÀ NỘI — The billionaire owner of English Premier League team Tottenham Hotspur, Joe Lewis, is visiting the southern province of Cần Thơ for the second time in a month.

The Brit arrived on his luxury Bombardier Global 6000 private jet on Monday, following his first visit to the Mekong Delta city in May on his super-yacht Aviva.

Lewis was welcomed at the airport by Deputy Chairman of the Cần Thơ City People’s Committee Trương Quang Hoài Nam and representatives of the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Lewis said he had decided to visit Cần Thơ again as he was impressed by the local land and people during the previous trip.

He had also planned to take the Champions League trophy with him on this trip, but Tottenham lost to Liverpool in the final on Sunday.

Lewis is scheduled to visit the Cái Răng floating market and try traditional cakes made by artisans on Sơn Islet.

Forbes currently estimates Lewis’ net worth at US$5.2 billion. He is considered the sixth richest man in Britain and 388th in the world.

Last month, Lewis docked his $150-million Aviva on the Hậu River and visited Cần Thơ City.

During his visit the billionaire said he was considering bringing Spurs to Việt Nam for friendly matches and Cần Thơ could be the venue for the event. — VNS
