Vietnamese players made progress on the third day of the 43rd World Chess Olympiad 2018 in Batumi City, Georgia.

HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese players made progress on the third day of the 43rd World Chess Olympiad 2018 in Batumi City, Georgia.

In the men’s division, Việt Nam, sitting in the 27th position, beat Bangladesh (64) 3.5-0.5 through Lê Quang Liêm, Nguyễn Ngọc Trường Sơn, Trần Tuấn Minh and Nguyễn Anh Khôi.

The win means the men move up to ninth in the table, and they will meet number 7 seed France in their next match.

In the women’s division, Võ Thị Kim Phụng, Phạm Lê Thảo Nguyên, Hoàng Thị Bảo Trâm and young talent Bạch Ngọc Thùy Dương overcame Lithuania  3.5-0.5.

They are now eighth in the table and will next face hosts Georgia, who are 4 seed. — VNS
