HÀ NỘI — Sông Lam Nghệ An (SLNA) beat SHB Đà Nẵng 3-1 in yesterday at Vinh Stadium in the central province of Nghệ An.
An easy win on their home soil against the visitors saw them climb to third place in the V.League 1.
After two consecutive failures at the National Cup and V-League tournaments, SLNA applied pressure from their start.
SHB Đà Nẵng’s defence could only hold on for 23 minutes. From a break on the left side forward Hồ Khắc Ngọc, hit a pinpoint pass for midfielder Lê Thế Cường to slot home.
SLNA continued to dominate the match. They created several scoring opportunities but covert.
In the final minutes of the first half, another attack down the left flank saw Michael Olaha passed the ball to Jeremine Lynch kicked who struck the woodwork.
The ball bounced back into play and hit goalkeeper Thanh Bình before flying into the SHB Đà Nẵng’s net, doubling the goals for the host.
After the break, and trailing by two goals, the visitors looked to get back in the game but couldn’t find the target.
It was until the last minutes, both team earned their own goals scored by SLNA’s midfielder Lê Thế Cường at the 88th minute and SHB Đà Nẵng’s midfielder Hồ Ngọc Thắng at the 89th minute.
Elsewhere, matches between champions of V.League 1, Hà Nội FC vs Sanna Khánh Hòa and Becamex Bình Dương vs Than Quảng Ninh both ended in a draw 1-1.
