HÀ NỘI — Hà Nội drew with reigning champions Hồ Chí Minh City I in the first match of the National Women’s Football Championship, held on Thursday at Thống Nhất Stadium, HCM City.
After some smooth passing, Huỳnh Như of Hồ Chí Minh City I picked out the top corner of goalkeeper Nguyễn Thị Loan’s net, but was denied with a save. Minutes later, the capital team took the opportunity in possession and created a number of threatening situations. Yet, Hồ Chí Minh City I remained focused in defence.
In the 60th minute, Thảo Anh passed to Nguyễn Thị Muôn who scored the opener for Hà Nội with a header. Just two minutes later, Hồ Chí Minh City I evened the score to 1-1 with a header by Bích Thùy.
In the closing minutes of the match, both teams had more chances to win but failed to capitalise.
After the draw 1-1 with Hồ Chí Minh City I, Hà Nội remain top with 17 points.
