Viet Nam News HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam won two silver medals in pencak silat at the Asian Games (ASIAD) 2018 in Indonesia Monday morning.
Duo Trần Đức Danh and Lê Hồng Quân brought home a silver medal in the men’s doubles’ performance. The gold medal went to the Indonesian team, while the Malaysian team claimed the bronze.
In the men’s trio performance, Vũ Tiến Dũng, Nguyễn Xuân Thành and Lưu Văn Nam also took a silver medal after losing to Indonesia in the final.
Meanwhile, Vương Thị Bình ranked sixth in the women’s performance with 434 points. The hosts Indonesia proved their strength in this category when once again they bagged the gold medal with 467 points.
On Sunday, Việt Nam’s pencak silat team earned three bronzes with the performance of Phạm Tuấn Anh in the men’s under 70kg, Hoàng Thị Loan in the women’s 60-65kg and Nguyễn Duy Tuyến in the men’s 85-90kg.
In karate, golden hope Nguyễn Thị Ngoan lost to Kazakhstan’s Gafurova Guzaliya 5-8 in the semi-finals of the women’s 68kg category.
Earlier, Ngoan won a historic gold medal for Việt Nam at the Karate 1-Premier League in Leipzig, Germany last September, one of the most prestigious karate competitions in the world.
Việt Nam have gained one gold, nine silvers and 12 bronzes to rank 24th in the medal tally. — VNS
