HÀ NỘI — V. League 1 side HCM City will have to do without midfielder Vũ Ngọc Thịnh for the rest of this season, the club announced yesterday.
Thịnh was injured during HCM City’s 3-1 win over Nam Định on Sunday.
The 25-year-old went down after a tackle in the 62th minute and was forced to leave the game held at Thiên Trường Stadium.
According to doctors, Thịnh tore knee ligaments and will be out at least eight months to recover.
“I am very sad as I can’t contribute any more to the team. Now I have to stop competing,” said Thịnh, who was last capped for the national side in 2016.
The northern port city of Hải Phòng-born player Thịnh scored the only goal to help HCM beat Đồng Tháp 1-0 in the qualifying round of National Cup on April 9. — VNS
