HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam’s U16 and U19 football teams will soon train in Japan to prepare for the finals of Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Championships this year, according to the Việt Nam Football Federation (VFF).
The VFF said Japan will create the best conditions for the teams to train. Japan will sponsor the whole training trip for the two teams.
Both teams will have three friendly matches in Japan.
The Việt Nam U16 squad secured a ticket to the final round of the 2018 AFC U16 Championship after being one of the top six second-placed teams in qualification. The event’s finals will be held in Malaysia from September 20 to October 7. The four semi-finalists will qualify for the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup.
Việt Nam U19 team topped Group H of the 2018 AFC U19 Championship qualifiers and moved to the event’s finals which will take place in Indonesia from October 18 and November 4 with the participation of 16 teams.
The top four teams of the tournament will qualify for the 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup as the AFC representatives. — VNS
