HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam brought home three golds, five silvers and two bronzes from the Asian Youth Para Games 2017, which closed in Dubai on Thursday.
Nguyễn Thị Hồng Nhung triumphed in the women’s U18 400m T13 event, with a time of 1min 16.56sec. Earlier, Nhung secured a bronze in the 100m class.
Đồng Thị Hải Yến won a gold in the women’s U18 1,500m T12 event. She then came second in the 100m and third in the 400m categories.
Nguyễn Xuân Tuấn Anh championed in the men’s U18 400m T12 pool. He also finished second in the 1,500m pool.
Nguyễn Thị Trang claimed a hat trick of silvers in the women’s U20 100m, 200m and 400m T11.
With three golds, Việt Nam now stand at the No. 16 position.
Japan are in the top place, with 43 titles. Iran and China are second and third, respectively.
The Games lured more than 800 athletes aged from 14 to 18 from 42 contingents. They took part in 10 sports, with athletics and swimming seeing the highest number of competitors from December 7 to 14.
The Vietnamese delegation took part in the event, with 23 athletes of four sports, including track and field, swimming, table tennis and badminton. — VNS
