World Para Champs
HÀ NỘI — Nguyễn Bình An brought home one more silver at the World Para Powerlifting Championship in Mexico City on December 7.
An lifted 178kg in the men’s 54kg to rank second.
The gold medal went to Ezuruike Roland of Nigeria after lifting 180kg, while Bakochristos Dimitrios of Greece took a bronze medal with 170kg.
In the six days of the competition, Vietnamese powerlifters earned one gold, two silvers and broke one world record.
Earlier, Đặng Thị Linh Phượng took home a silver medal in the women’s 50kg category, lifting 107kg. Lê Văn Công won a gold and also broke the world record in the men’s up to 49kg category.
In the World Para Swimming Championship held in the same city, Trịnh Bích Như also brought home one more silver medal in the women’s 50m freestyle in the Francisco Marquez Olympic Pool with a time of 38.05secs.
Weber-Treiber Sabine of Austria triumphed in this event with a time of 36.33secs. While Trejo Delgadillo Vianney of Mexico took bronze medal with a time of 38.378secs
Earlier, Như bagged a silver medal in the women’s 100m breaststroke.
Vietnamese swimmers won a total of four silvers and two bronzes. Notably, Võ Thanh Tùng alone won two silvers and one bronze.
Việt Nam sent five swimmers and six powerlifters to the Mexico event. — VNS
