HÀ NỘI — Viettel will face Hoàng Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) in the finals of the National U21 Football Championship on December 7.
The two teams beat their rivals in the semi-finals on December 5 to enter the finals.
In the first match, Viettel defeated Sông Lam Nghệ An (SLNA) 5-4 in the penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw in the main time.
Viettel held attacks from the time the referee blew his whistle to seek early goals.
Just in the sixth minute, Hoàng Đức suddenly opened the score for Viettel from a penalty kick.
In the 18th minute, SLNA’s striker, Phạm Đức Thông, was forced to leave the game as he was injured during an impact with goalie, Xuân Sơn, of Viettel. However, this didn’t affect SLNA’s spirit. In the 35th minute, Phan Văn Đức helped SLNA level the score of 1-1.
Although the two sides tried their best in the second half, no more goals were scored. So, they entered the penalty shootout and Viettel won 5-4.
Meanwhile, HAGL crushed Becamex Bình Dương 1-0 in the other semi-final match.
