HÀ NỘI — Lý Hoàng Nam of Việt Nam advanced to the second round of the Singapore F1 Men’s Futures on Thursday.

Nam, who is the No 6 seed, beat Wu Tung-Lin of Chinese Taipei 6-3, 6-3 at the Kallang Tennis Centre.

He will next play Kazuki Nishiwaki of Japan, who won 7-6 (3), 6-1 over countryman Issei Okamura.

Nam is currently the only Vietnamese athlete in Singapore.

Earlier, Nam’s teammate Trịnh Linh Giang was ousted, losing 6-3, 3-6, 1-6 to Thailand’s Wishaya Trongcharoen.

Nam and his Indian partner on Wednesday earned their berth in the quarter-finals of the doubles event. — VNS
