Vietnamese lifters win 17 titles at Asian champs

Việt Nam bagged 17 gold medals at the Asian Youth, Junior Men’s and Women’s Weightlifting Championships, which is ongoing in Tokyo, Japan.

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam bagged 17 gold medals at the Asian Youth, Junior Men’s and Women’s Weightlifting Championships, which is ongoing in Tokyo, Japan.

On the last day of competition, the Vietnamese athletes pocketed five titles by Nguyễn Thị Tuyết Mai (one in women’s 63kg), Nguyễn Thị Vân (three in women’s 69kg) and Nguyễn Quang Trường (one in men’s 69kg). Trường also won two silver medals.

Earlier, the Southeast Asian team won 12 gold medals on the first two days.

The championships ends on November 15; Việt Nam, however, have completed their events. — VNS
