Vietnamese enter six finals at world gymnastics championships

Việt Nam entered six out of eight final rounds on Monday at the 14th Aerobic Gymnastics World Championships and the 7th World Age Group Competition in Incheon, South Korea.

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam entered six out of eight final rounds on Monday at the 14th Aerobic Gymnastics World Championships and the 7th World Age Group Competition in Incheon, South Korea.

Trần Giang Nam grabbed 18.500 points to rank third in the boys’ singles, 12-14 years old, category.

In the mixed doubles for 15-17-year-old players, Hoàng Phong and Thúy Vi received 19.800 points to lead after the qualifier. Their teammates Gia Hiển and Minh Phương came in third, with 19.500 points.

Tôn Nữ Thanh Thanh was given 20.050 points for her fourth position in the girls’ singles, 15-17 years old, category.

Their teammates ranked fifth in the group of five category for 12-14-year-olds.

Finals will be organised today.

The world championships will wrap up on Sunday, with the best players qualifying for the World Games next year.

The tournament, the largest of the International Gymnastics Federation, has received 40 delegations, including the world’s strongest teams, such as Spain, France and Bulgaria.

Việt Nam landed in Incheon with 20 athletes, competing in 15 of the 17 events held at the Namdong Gymnasium. — VNS
