Tiến wins in Thailand event, starts to prepare for Davis Cup

HÀ NỘI — Nguyễn Đắc Tiến of Việt Nam triumphed in the Thailand Open’s U18 tennis event in Muang Thong, on May 23.

Tiến was not a seed at this tournament but he overcame all title favourites to reach the final where he beat No 1 Pawit Sonlaksub 6-3, 6-2.

The 17-year-old player will now return to Việt Nam and prepare for the Davis Cup competition between Thailand and Việt Nam in July.

In Muang Thong’s event, Việt Nam also pocketed three bronze medals in the U12, 14 and 16 classes. — VNS
