HÀ NỘI — The 34th Nhân Dân (The People’s) Newspaper National Table Tennis Championships will kick off in HCM City on May 10.
Some 160 players from 18 teams from across the country will participate in the event and compete for seven sets of medals in the men’s and women’s singles, doubles, mixed doubles and team events.
Fans nationwide will get a chance to see top players competing this year, such as Đoàn Kiến Quốc, Trần Tuấn Quỳnh, Mai Hoàng Mỹ Trang and Đinh Quang Linh.
The tournament is co-organised by the Nhân Dân newspaper, the National Sports Administration, the Việt Nam Table Tennis Federation and the HCM City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The opening and closing ceremony will be broadcast live on VTV6 channel.
At last year’s tournament, HCM City’s Trang won the women’s singles event, while Linh of the military team won the men’s singles event. — VNS
