Cương wins gold, sets record at Nat’l Archery Championships

HÀ NỘI (VNS) — Nguyễn Tiến Cương was the best player at the National Archery Championships which wrapped up in Phú Thọ Province yesterday.

Cương, who hails from Hà Nội, grabbed five gold medals and set a new record in the men’s individual all-round 50mx2 with 709 points. The old record of 704 points also belonged to Cương and was made last year.

Cương’s outstanding performance helped Hà Nội ace the tournament with 18 gold, 17 silver and nine bronze medals.

Vĩnh Long ranked second, with nine medals. HCM City placed third, with five gold medals.

The annual tournament also saw four other new records. More than 130 athletes from 17 teams participated in the 10-day event. – VNS
