Vietnamese women lead at Asian Nations Cup Chess Championship

Vietnamese women chess team got the first loss at the Asian Nations Cup Chess Team Championship’s sixth match at the Novotel Abu Dhabi Al Bustan Hotel in United Arab Emirate (UAE) on Saturday.

The Vietnamese women’s chess team had their first loss at the Asian Nations Cup Chess Team Championship in their sixth match at the Novotel Abu Dhabi Al Bustan Hotel in United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Saturday.

The team lost to Mongolia 1.5-2.5.

Phạm Lê Thảo Nguyên beat Nomin-Erdene Davaademberel. Hoàng Thị Như Ý tied with Enkhtuul Altan-Ulzii. While Hoàng Thị Bảo Trâm and Nguyễn Thị Mai Hưng were defeated by Mongolian rivals.

With five wins and one loss, Việt Nam still led the women’s category with 18.5 points out of 10 teams, followed by China on 18 points.

Việt Nam will meet Uzbekistan in the next match.

In the men’s open division, Việt Nam easily bested the hosts UAE 3-1 to rank seventh out of 20 teams.

The tournament, which ends today, has been organised by the UAE Chess Federation under the auspices of the UAE Ministry of Presidential Affairs, Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the Asian Chess Federation. – VNS
