Judo team heads to China to train for Olympics in Brazil

Vietnamese judo team have left for China for a short training course to secure tickets for the coming 2016 Summer Olympics.

The Vietnamese judo team have left for China for a short training course to secure tickets for the upcoming 2016 Summer Olympics.

The team includes martial artists Văn Ngọc Tú (women’s 48kg), Nguyễn Thị Quỳnh (52kg) and Nguyễn Thị Thanh Thủy (52kg) and coach Lê Duy Hải.

After the training course finishes on April 10, the team will compete in the Asian Judo Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on April 14-17.

Việt Nam hopes that the three athletes will earn slots to Brazil this summer.

At present, nine Vietnamese athletes have secured a berth for the Olympics that will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from August 5 to 21. — VNS
