HÀ NỘI — The national team of Việt Nam will have an important warm-up ahead of their international tournaments this year, at the friendly LPBank Cup 2024.
The three-side event will feature Russia, Thailand and the hosts at the Hà Nội's Mỹ Đình Stadium on September 5-10.
It is considered a competitive competition for Việt Nam, as Russia are the world's No 33 and have taken part in 11 World Cup tournaments.
Top players in the team are strikers Artem Dzyuba (Lokomotiv Moscow) and Fedor Smolov (Dynamo Moscow), attacking midfielders Aleksandr Golovin (AS Monaco) and Arsen Zakharyan (Real Sociedad).

Thailand, world No 101, are one of the leading teams in the ASEAN region and arch rivals to Việt Nam, who sit at world No 115.
Familiar football faces such as attacking midfielders Supachok Sarachat and Chanathip, striker Teerasil Dangda, winger Suphanat Mueanta, midfielder Sarach Yooyen, forward Supachai Chaided, and leftback Theerathon Bunmathan will be visiting Việt Nam.
"It will be a key event for our players to sharpen their technical and tactical skills. Also, local supporters will have opportunities to witness elite football matches," said Dương Nghiệp Khôi, general secretary of the Việt Nam Football Federation (VFF).
"VFF is pleased to have LPBank as main sponsor of the tournament. The bank's support plays big role in our organising activities and shows the enterprise's care of the national team and Việt Nam's footballing future.
"I believe that the LPBank Cup 2024 will be a quality part of the national team's preparation for the regional championship later this year."

In response, ông Hoàng Văn Phúc, LPBank deputy general director, said: "Becoming the main sponsor of the 2024 LPBank Cup once again affirms the bank's strong companionship in the development of Vietnamese football.

Teams will play in a round robin format with the winners earning US$10,000.
The two runners-up will bag $7,000 and $5,000, respectively.
Coach Kim Sang-sik of Team Việt Nam will pick 30 players and will begin training on August 30.
All matches will be broadcast live on VTVcab channels. Ticket prices range from VNĐ200,000 to 500,000, and will be available on the VinID app from August 21-29. — VNS
