HÀ NỘI — An easy win over Singapore pushed Việt Nam's women's team into the top four overall of the 32nd SEA Games' basketball tournament on May 15 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
It was the highest ranking of the team in the regional sport meet's 5x5 basketball category.
As the result of the match did not change the final ranking of Việt Nam, coach Michael David Olson made a number of changes in his starting team. Many substitutes were put in while his key players were mainly rested.
After the first quarter of warming up, the Vietnamese side quickly scored points and created a big gap from Singapore, who were at the bottom of the ranking as they did not win a match.
After the third quarter, it was 61-27 for Việt Nam, who played the easiest match of the tournament.
In the last 10 minutes of the last quarter, Việt Nam played with all substitutes but were still stronger than their rival. They won 77-55.
Defender Mailee Jones led with 20 points among players of both sides. Trương Thảo Vy and Bùi Kim Nhạn had 14 and 12 points, respectively, although they were rested most of time.

Việt Nam, who won a gold in the 3x3 tournament on May 7, took three wins and three losses to secure fourth place.
Indonesia won all six matches to secure a gold. The Philippines came second with five wins and Malaysia was third with four wins.
In today's action, Việt Nam's men's team will compete against Malaysia in the fifth-place match. VNS
