HÀ NỘI -- The winner of the National Women's Football Championship will enjoy a bonus of VNĐ300 million (US$12,800), the organisers of the tournament announced on August 8 in Hà Nội.

The championship, sponsored by Thái Sơn Bắc Electric Equipment Trading Company, will see seven teams competing in a two-leg round-robin format.

The first round will be held from August 30 to September 24 at the Hà Nội's Youth Football Training Centre. The second round is scheduled from October 5-30 at the Hà Nam Province's Stadium.

Following a draw held on August 8, Hà Nội II will play defending champions HCM City I in the opening match.

Apart from bonuses for the champions, the first and second runners-up also grab cash prizes. The organisers also deliver awards for the MVP, top scorer and best goalkeeper.

"It is the 11th year in a row that Thái Sơn Bắc is the main sponsor of the tournament. During these years, Việt Nam's women's football has grown and grabbed remarkable results," said Bùi Đình Tế, Thái Sơn Bắc chairman of the board. 

"This year, our team defended the SEA Games title and for the first time earned a slot to compete in the World Cup. These are the main reasons that our company maintains sponsorship for the national tournament.

"We hope that the championship and the women's football will receive more attention and support from the Government and society so that our football will strongly develop. Throughout this year's championship, we hope the best players will be selected for the World Cup campaign," he said. VNS
