HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam will compete in the Jujitsu International Federation World Cup Beach 2022, to be held on June 23-24 on Jomtien Beach, Pattaya, Thailand.
The 18-athlete team is led by Trần Văn Thạch, head of Việt Nam Sports Administration's Jujitsu Department.
The highlights for the team are the world champion Phùng Thị Huệ who just won a gold medal at the recent SEA Games in the women's U45kg, and SEA Games winner Đào Hồng Sơn (men's U56kg).
Other potential faces are Đặng Thị Huyền (women's U52kg), Phạm Trí Dũng (men's U69kg), Trần Ngọc Lượng (men's U62kg) and Nguyễn Cát Tùng (men's U77kg).
They will vie for trophies against powerful rivals from South Korea, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and the hosts.
They will compete for titles in 10 weight categories for both men and women in the No-Gi discipline in which fighters don't wear the traditional uniform but shorts and T-shirts or a rash guard.
The individual events will be on June 23, while the team events are set for June 24. — VNS
