HÀ NỘI - Saigon Beer, a SABECO brand, has become the third diamond sponsor of the 31st Southeast Asian Games.

The sponsorship signing ceremony was held in Hà Nội on Friday morning.

Earlier this week, Động Lực Group and Bia Việt decided to sponsor the regional sport tournament, which will be held next May.

Speaking at the ceremony, deputy director of the Việt Nam Sports Administration Trần Đức Phấn said: “Our preparation for the SEA Games is in rush hour with a range of activities to improve the competition facilities. We are excited to receive more sponsors joining hands to help us to organise this important Games.”

“We appreciate and thank the support of Saigon Beer, which has become our partner in various sport events, including the 31st SEA Games. This helps push our athletes to achieve higher results and reach their personal best.”

The Saigon Beer representative was also happy with the cooperation.

“As the leading homegrown brand for many decades, Bia Saigon always takes pride in supporting and promoting the spirit of the country’s sports both at national and international levels," said General Director of SABECO Bennett Neo.

"We are proud to continue our commitment to being the loyal companion and supporter of the Việt Nam participation in SEA Games, and with the 31st SEA Games in Việt Nam, we want to cheer our fellow athletes to achieve greater successes, sharing the same objective of bringing glory and recognition to the country.

“We take pride in being able to join forces with the Việt Nam Sports Administration and the SEA Games Organizing Committee in supporting activities for the 31st SEA Games.”

SEA Games returns to Việt Nam for the second time after 18 years. The 40-sport competition will be held in Hà Nội and 11 neighbouring cities and provinces from May 12 to 23.

Việt Nam placed second with 98 golds, 85 silvers and 105 bronzes in the previous Games in the Philippines in 2019. The host came first with 149 titles while Thailand was third on 92.

Việt Nam has set a target of being in the top three in the upcoming edition. VNS
