Gạc Ma Reef’s martyrs live forever

A memorial service was held in honour of 64 martyrs who fought to protect the Gạc Ma (Johnson South) Reef in 1988, at Mân Quang Wharf by the liaison of Navy Engineering Regiment No 83. Sixty-four engineers were killed, 11 wounded and nine imprisoned by the Chinese navy. Two unarmed cargo ships of Việt Nam were sunk in the incident.

Thousands of houses built for poor households in Điện Biên

As many as 5,000 houses have been built and handed over to poor households in the northern province of Điện Biên under a housing project for the disadvantaged in Điện Biên (Project 09) launched by the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee

A momentous wedding anniversary

On her 94th birthday, a woman who served at Điện Biên Phủ fulfilled her wish to visit the place where her wedding took place 70 years ago. Retired doctor Nguyễn Thị Ngọc Toản married Lieutenant General Cao Văn Khánh, former Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Việt Nam People's Army right after the Điện Biên Phủ victory, tying the knot in the Christian de Castries tunnel in 1954.
