HCM City should immediately zone, trace and end transmission of the new coronavirus through Tân Sơn Nhất Airport, Minister of Health Nguyễn Thanh Long has told the city Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control held on February 8.

Airport authorities across Việt Nam have been told to take the ‘highest-level’ measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 during the Lunar New Year holiday, following nearly 30 new locally transmitted cases identified recently at Tân Sơn Nhất international airport in HCM City.

The Hà Nội Centre for Disease Control (CDC) on Monday morning announced four new community COVID-19 infections, including one woman who came into contact with a confirmed case nearly two weeks ago but withheld the information from contact tracers.

The new cases bring Viet Nam's caseload since the pandemic began to 2,001.
