HÀ NỘI — A man who recovered from COVID-19 has since died of multi-organ failure, but his cause of death is not coronavirus-related.

The 61-year-old from Thanh Bình Ward in Hải Châu District, Đà Nẵng City was being treated for COVID-19 but tested negative four times between August 4 and August 12.

However, on Wednesday, the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control announced that he died on August 12 from a number of other health issues, not connected to coronavirus.

The cause of death has been reported as septic shock, multi-organ failure, hypertension, diabetes type 2 and chronical obstructive pulmonary disease.

Meanwhile, Huế Central Hospital on late Tuesday evening announced the recovery of five COVID-19 cases, including one who tested negative for the virus for six times and has been home for quarantine.

The other four people given the all-clear still have a number of other serious health issues and are being transferred to Đà Nẵng C Hospital in the central city for further treatment. — VNS
