BÌNH THUẬN — A murder has been reported at Quảng An Pagoda in southern Bình Thuận Province’s Tân Nghĩa Town, killing a monk and a volunteer and leaving another in critical condition, the provincial Investigation Police Department has said.
The incident happened on Sunday evening. Buddhists went to Quảng An Pagoda and discovered that Monk Thích Nguyên Lộc, whose real name is Tạ Văn Sửu, had been killed.
The second victim was found lying nearby. The victim was identified as Nguyễn Thị Bảo Yến, a pagoda volunteer.
The third victim was found with stab wounds and in critical condition. She was Yến’s mother, Nguyễn Thị Phượng, who worked as a cook at the pagoda.
She was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment.
The police have cordoned off the scene and conducted an autopsy.
Initial investigation showed that it was most likely a murder and robbery. Police are conducting further investigations. — VNS
