LẠNG SƠN — The Bắc Giang-Lạng Sơn Highway was completed on Sunday, three months ahead of schedule.
The highway stretches 64km from the Hà Nội-Bắc Giang Highway to Chi Lăng District in the northern mountainous province of Lạng Sơn.
The project, with total investment of VNĐ12 trillion (US$521.7 million), took two years.
The highway will help shorten travel times from Hà Nội to Lạng Sơn Province by more than three hours.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Trịnh Đình Dũng praised the Bắc Giang and Lạng Sơn People’s Committees for the project’s progress.
The highway was expected to become an important artery and one of the biggest trade gateways between Việt Nam and China. It would also help reduce congestion and promote trade, tourism and services, he said. — VNS
