NGHỆ AN — The Việt Nam Maritime Search and Rescue Centre said it rescued 17 fishermen from a fishing ship that had developed mechanical problems last Saturday.

It received an SOS from fishing vessel NA-91927 TS registered in the central Nghệ An Province at around 8.30am on Saturday.

It immediately dispatched a rescue vessel which however took 10 hours to reach the distressed boat due to bad weather and rough seas.

At around 9pm on Sunday, the stranded fishing boat with all the fishermen was safely towed back to Lạch Quèn Port in Nghệ An Province’s Quỳnh Lưu District. — VNS
