HÀ NỘI — Eight people were dead and missing after fire caught warehouses early Friday morning in Trung Văn Commune in Nam Từ Liêm District in Hà Nội.

Initial findings revealed that the blaze started at 2:15am and was not extinguished until two hours later as the warehouse was located inside a narrow alley which made it difficult for firefighters to reach.

The fire swept through all four warehouses in the 1,000sq.m area. The eight people who were confirmed to be inside the Environment Company 79's workshop that made plastic wastebaskets when the fire broke out.

Trịnh Văn Hào, head of the Nam Từ Liêm District Military Command, said that a mother and her two children were among the victims.

The rescue force is continuing its search for other victims. — VNS
