HÀ NỘI — The Hà Nội Transportation Department has decided to revoke the business licence of the company whose truck driver caused a deadly crash on Monday, killing eight people and injuring seven others.

The license of NEWPRO Production and Trading Joint Stock Company, the owner of the truck, was taken away for a period of three months due to violating Article 23 of Decree No. 86/2014/NDCP dated on September 10, 2014 on the conditions of transportation business.

In addition, the company did not transmit vehicle data to the Vietnam Road Administration according to regulations.

The truck driver, Lương Văn Tâm, was found to have tested positive for drugs after the accident.

The company is required to return the licence and licensed truck badges and stop all transportation activities after the decision takes effect in accordance with law.

The accident occurred at 2pm on Monday, when truck number 29C-719.53 slammed into pedestrians walking on the side of National Highway 5A in Kim Lương Commune, Kim Thành District. — VNS
