CẦN THƠ – A serious bus accident occurred early morning today on the section of Highway 91 passing through Ô Môn District in Cần Thơ Province, killing two and injuring 14.
At 3am this morning, the 25-seater bus was travelling from Cần Thơ to An Giang Province when its driver Huỳnh Ngọc Tấn, 44, lost control and crashed into a vendor on the pavement on the left side, which resulted in one electric pole falling.
Two passengers died on the spot while 14 others were injured. They were taken to hospital for treatment.
The bus was seriously damaged.
Local police checked the accident scene and took testimonies from witnesses for investigation.
Nguyễn Văn Hoàng, a witness, told Dân Trí online newspaper he heard a loud noise and screams for help. When he approached the bus, two people were already dead and the injured were trying to crawl out of the bus.
Dr Lê Quang Võ, director of Cần Thơ City’s General Hospital, said among five people hospitalised, one was in very critical condition.
Meanwhile, according to initial information from Central General Hospital, one out of two patients was in critical condition.
The city’s Traffic Safety Committee has visited the patients at the hospitals. – VNS
