HCM CITY — The Government has green lighted the 1,000-bed Tiền Giang General Hospital in the Mekong Delta city of Mỹ Tho.

The VNĐ2.3 trillion (US$100.9 million) facility is expected to be completed in 2020 or 2021.

Trần Thanh Thảo, head of the Tiền Giang Province Department of Health, said VNĐ1.7 trillion would come from central funds and the rest from the province’s coffers.

Construction of the 10-hectare hospital in Phước Thạnh Commune will start at the beginning of next year.

The hi-tech facility would reduce the large number of patients who now go to HCM City for treatment, Thảo said. —VNS
