HCM CITY – Tôn Đức Thắng University has been ranked 156th out of 516 universities worldwide for its green educational environment and sustainable educational facilities, according to the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking (GreenMetric) of Universitas Indonesia.
The HCM City school was the only Vietnamese university to be listed in the top 200 of the list, which was released on December 29.
The ranking reflects the university’s efforts to build green and modern educational facilities, Nguyễn Thời Trung, vice president of the university, said at a press conference on Monday (Jan. 9).
The university met various criteria such as a green environment, setting and infrastructure; and emphasis on energy and climate change, waste management, water, transport and education (training capacity and scientific studies).
The university’s training ability and scientific studies ranked 149th among 516 universities.
Last year, the university was recognised as an environmentally-friendly campus by the Việt Nam Federation of UNESCO Associations.
