HCM CITY – The Ministry of Health will build an endocrinology hospital with 100-beds capacity in HCM City, minister Nguyễn Thị Kim Tiến has said.
Speaking during a working session with the municipal People’s Committee on Tuesday, Tiến suggested the city authority to allocate some 10ha in Bình Chánh District to build the hospital, while the ministry would be in charge of land clearance and infrastructure construction.
Nguyễn Thị Thu, Vice Chairwoman of the municipal People’s Committee, welcomed the project. She pledged to support the health ministry in land clearance when the project got approved.
In terms of building hospitals in the city, Tiến asked the municipal Department of Health to accelerate the construction of key hospital projects, including a pediatrics hospital, tumor hospital and orthopedic institute, to reduce overcrowding at medical check-up stations.
The city’s health department revealed that the pediatrics hospital would be put into operation in early 2017, while the tumor hospital and orthopedic institute were scheduled to be completed in late 2017 and 2018, respectively. – VNS
