HÀ NỘI — A Hà Nội train crashed into a truck at about 10am today in Diễn Châu District of central Nghệ An Province, interrupting traffic on the railway line.

The truck, carrying construction materials, was dragged along the line and thrown nearly 50 metres after being hit by the train.

The truck reportedly ran through a section of the tracks that had no barriers.

The truck driver, Hoàng Danh Hải, 23, was hospitalised in critical condition.

The collision wrecked the truck and distorted the front of the train. Luckily, the train was transporting goods, so no human fatalities or injuries were reported there.

Local authorities were immediately dispatched to the scene to deal with the accident’s aftermath.

At noon today, congestion on the North-South railway running through Diễn Châu District was resolved, Vietnam News Agency reported.

The incident delayed the SE7 passenger train from Hà Nội to HCM City. — VNS
