ĐÀ NẴNG — An Hải Ward Police of Đà Nẵng City said that they had received a report from residents about a foreigner attacking a local after a traffic accident the same day.
According to initial information, the driver involved has also reported the incident to the police.
On April 27, a video clip recording an incident on Võ Nguyên Giáp Street, in front of a seaside hotel in An Hải Ward attracted significant attention.
At that time, a foreign man riding a motorbike collided with a seven-seater car traveling in the same direction. After the collision, both people on the motorbike fell to the ground.
As soon as they stood up, the foreign man and the woman accompanying him became agitated and kicked the side of the car.
When the driver opened the door and stepped out to talk, the man suddenly lunged forward, repeatedly pushing and swinging his arms in an attack.
The incident was brief but attracted the attention of many people present in the crowded coastal area. The clip, after being posted, quickly gained traction on social media.
Many people expressed outrage at the foreigner's lack of self-control while driving. Some also argued that even though the cause of the collision has not been clarified, the use of violence is unacceptable, especially in the context of Đà Nẵng as an international tourist destination where civilised behavior should be emphasised.
On his personal page, Luke Deakin, a famous backpacker who walked from England to Việt Nam, reposted this clip with the caption "violence is never the answer," which also drew attention from the community.
Viewers also noted that the motorcyclist in the clip was not wearing a helmet while driving as required by the law.
Currently, authorities are investigating the incident to handle it according to regulations. — VNS
