ĐỒNG THÁP — Party members at the grassroots level in the Mekong Delta province of Đồng Tháp have taken on a leading role in raising voter awareness ahead of the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 tenure.
Through direct communication and community engagement these local Party members are helping residents better understand their rights and responsibilities as voters, encouraging them to cast their ballots fully and correctly on election day, March 15.
Trần Hoàng Nhật Nam, Secretary of the Party Committee of Bình Ninh Commune, said the locality has established 24 main polling stations and 24 auxiliary polling locations.
Most of the designated polling sites have been prepared with adequate facilities including electricity, water, Wi-Fi access and loudspeaker systems, ensuring favourable conditions for voters.
As of now the communal Election Committee has completed the distribution of essential election materials to polling teams including voter cards, ballots for elections at three levels, official stamps for election boards and polling stations, voted stamps, identification badges for election staff, office supplies and official record forms.
Nam noted that grassroots Party members have played a key role in disseminating Party guidelines and State policies on elections to households and voters, helping ensure that election day truly becomes a nationwide civic occasion.
Nguyễn Thị Mười Hai, Secretary of Mỹ Thạnh Hamlet in Bình Ninh Commune, said the local Party cell had assigned members to specific residential areas to reach residents who work far from home and are unable to attend community meetings.
During regular meetings Party members also incorporate concise election-related information into discussions, helping residents better understand their rights and obligations as voters.
Nguyễn Ngọc Đăng, a resident of Mỹ Thạnh Hamlet who works in HCM City and returns home only once a month, said he had been approached directly by a local Party member responsible for his area and briefed on the upcoming election.
“Thanks to the hamlet officials who came to my house and explained the election process, I now better understand my rights and responsibilities as a voter,” Đăng said, adding that he plans to arrange his work schedule to return home and vote on March 15.
In coastal Gò Công Đông Commune, Party cell secretary and hamlet head Đặng Thanh Toàn together with other Party members has been regularly visiting local polling stations to monitor preparations for the upcoming election.
They have also met with residents to explain voting procedures, voter rights and obligations and the standards expected of elected representatives.
Trần Thị Lùn, a resident of Chợ Hamlet in the commune, said the explanations provided by local officials had helped her understand the significance of the election.
“On March 15, my family and I will go to vote fully and responsibly, as the hamlet secretary encouraged,” she said.
Tạ Thị Thanh Tâm, Secretary of the Gò Công Đông Commune Party Committee, said grassroots Party members’ direct face-to-face communication had proven effective in helping residents fully understand the importance of the election and their role in selecting capable and ethical representatives.
Expanding public outreach ahead of election day
In Tân Hồng Commune, located along the border area of Đồng Tháp Province, preparations for the election have also been progressing on schedule.
According to Nguyễn Đắc Thắng, Secretary of the Party cell of Gò Da Hamlet, Party members have been assigned to specific neighbourhood groups to meet residents and explain the meaning and importance of the election, particularly voters’ rights and responsibilities.
Party members have also delivered voter cards to households in the hamlet, ensuring residents are ready to participate in the election on March 15.
Đào Ngọc Bích, Chairman of the commune People’s Committee and Vice Chairman of the commune’s Election Committee, said the locality has completed the public posting of voter lists comprising more than 23,000 eligible voters.
Authorities have also approved seven electoral units and established 25 polling stations across the commune.
To ensure strong voter participation and smooth election procedures the local communications subcommittee has stepped up information campaigns through multiple channels, she said.
In Đồng Tháp Province, which comprises 102 communes and wards stretching along both banks of the Tiền River, there will be 1,009 polling stations serving more than 3.2 million voters in the upcoming election.
The province has 30 candidates running for seats in the 16th National Assembly of which 18 deputies will be elected. In addition, 142 candidates are contesting 85 seats in the provincial People’s Council while 3,907 candidates are standing for 2,332 positions in commune-level People’s Councils. — VNS
