Former VNA deputy general director passes away at 81

HÀ NỘI — Journalist Nguyễn Duy Cương, who had previously served as standing deputy general director of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA), passed away in Hà Nội on Monday.

Born in 1945 in Hà Nội's Phù Đổng Commune, he devoted his career to the national news service, rising to senior leadership positions and chairing the VNA Journalists’ Association.

Over the years, he was honoured with the Second-Class Labour Order, the Second-Class Resistance Order and the Medal for the Cause of Journalism. He was also awarded the 45-year Party Badge in recognition of his long Party membership.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday at the National Funeral Hall, 5 Trần Thánh Tông Street, Hà Nội. Visitation is scheduled from 9am to 10.30am, followed by the memorial service and burial procession.

Cremation will take place at the Hoàn Vũ Crematorium in Văn Điển, with burial at his hometown cemetery. — VNS
